U are right.i dig this version better than the latter ones.reason is this version have warm analog synths instead of the well know version that used harsh roland digital keyboard

This has so much more life than the released versions. Too bad he never re-worked this one.

I absolutely love it. The synths, the crunchy and funky rhythm guitar, the drums.

Can´t get enough of those mid 80s 1999 and Purple Rain era rehearsals.

The best thing about this era is the soundchecks and rehearsals. The tour is boring as hell. Might as well just watch the movie. This is definitely some great stuff though!

Well Prince himself said he was bored by about halfway through, and it's boring in retrospect as a listener to multiple bootlegs of shows, i'm sure it was frickin' amazing at the time though.

I'm sure it was great to see live but bootleg wise, they're mostly all the same with a few exceptions. Plus i never liked how the drum machine sounded live vs in studio.

Well the show was different in the latter stages,he addEd Controversy,Dirty Mind ,When U Were Mine,America...

If he was bored in 1985 can u imagine how bored he was in 2015 playing those songs

I find myself listening to the one or two different songs and skipping the standard set. I don't hold it against Prince and I don't think it was a bad idea at the time but it's not his most interesting tour start to finish as a listener with access to his whole career.

I do wonder what he thought when playing Purple Rain or Raspberry Beret of 1999 for the billionth time circa the 2010's. People used to complain all the time on here about the Take Me With You/Raspberry Beret that he was doing for a good 15 years or so (I think? Maybe even longer?).

I think if we (were able) to do a listen over of most of the tours, we would find that the song list is generally the same.

I love the SOTT and Lovesexy shows too, BUT it is just the same thing over and over. The Lovesexy show produced nice Aftershows, but then I find that it's like 1 or 2 that were exciting and the others were him pretending that everything was spur of the moment (including calling up the same singer(Mica Paris??) at each show lol

I still like em overall.

The Purple Rain era had some interesting off night/pre tour shows, including the Birthday show the Dance Benefit show and a few aftershows I need like the 7th St Entry with just Prince Bobby Z and Brown Mark

I have a list of the PR tour set lists, and they were actually more diverse than I thought. Including older songs (He mostly being about moving forward wanted to stick mostly with Controversey 1999 Purple rain songs) then they began incorporating pre-Controversy song and showcasing soon to be released ATWIAD songs)

I mean by 1997 Prince was just doing the same Hit n Run type shows

I think that might have been because they were creating and rehearsing the songs since 1983. And start moving into other songs/album concepts ie the Family, Romance 1600, We Can Fuck(s) and ATWIAD music etc and exploring other things.

I think because this period might be the longest between him putting out an album next to the pre 3rd Eye Girl albums, he was just moving.

I feel if he put about another 6 months for UTCM the movie might have been thought out differently and might have been a more overall successful era.
